What is the Improv Karaoke cd?
Improv
Karaoke is a two cd set of tracks in eleven
popular styles, especially designed for song improv. Disc 1 starts
with a tutorial with lots of tips and pointers, then demo
versions of each track, improvised by bunch of my friends, based on suggestions they’ve gotten on the spot.
Disc 2 has all the same
tracks, but without any talking or demos. This is your chance to jump in
and give song improv a try. It’s just like karaoke,
except you can make up your own song!
You can use Improv Karaoke
as a tool for theater and improv classes and workshops; as a way for
improv groups to practice when they don’t have a live musician; for
improv performances; or just for fun at a party, camp or special
event. You can host an Improv Karaoke Night, and
have teams compete. You can even use the tracks to write your own
song for a special event like an anniversary or birthday.
Even if you’ve been
scared to try song improv, Improv Karaoke will get you started and
having fun.
And if you’re an old hand, you can use the cd to
sharpen your skills and try it with your friends.
Improv Karaoke is
a whole new way to do song improv!
"Improv
Karaoke is a blast! A great tool for learning. A great game for fun."
– Chip Esten (Whose Line is it Anyway)
"Improv Karaoke is
the best thing to happen to music games since Name That Tune.
A
workout for the mind and the funny bone!" -
Keegan-Michael Key
(MADtv, Key & Peele)
What is Improv Karaoke Jam Night?
It's a fun, open-mic music improv show, hosted by Rick & Laura Hall. Improvisers sign up to play, and get called up to create songs to fully produced karaoke style tracks in various popular styles. It's a great way for improvisers from different levels, teams, classes or groups to mix and have fun doing song improv. It's great at improv clubs and theaters, colleges, and festivals. Often times we'll do the Jam in conjunction with a workshop, so participants can show off their new skills. We'd love to come host one for you! Just send me an email at:

“It was SO fun. I loved
watching it and I loved doing it. And who wouldn't want to have the
amazing
Laura Hall to play your make-a-song?! Can't wait to do it
again and again!” - Ruthie Rudnick (The Second City)
