I have been blessed to be part of a very musically active church. For me, music can create such a direct, immediate connection with God. It can open our hearts and help God’s spirit move in us in a way that nothing else can.
When I came to my church, 14 years ago, I immediately joined the choir and later started singing and playing in the contemporary service band. Whenever I get involved with a musical group it isn’t long before I want to start writing for them. I’ve since written lots of contemporary worship songs and choral pieces. I’ve been blessed to have great musicians around me (including my fabulous choir director) who have been so supportive and brought helped bring my worship songs to life.
One of my choral pieces “Pray for Peace” was chosen for a special 9/11 worship service. That piece and two others were included on the 2003 compilation cd “A Church with a Vision”. And two of my contemporary worship songs, “This is my Dream” and “A Woman of Faith” were selected for a compilation cd, “Dream on Sisters” to be used for a national women’s gathering in 2006.
I am so thrilled that my music has been able to bless other people in this way.
