We would usually tape over a three day weekend. On each day we’d have one audience and play up to 28 games, one right after another. Some games we’d do more than once. Some, like “Greatest Hits”, where they’d usually use three songs based on a single suggestion, we’d do 5 or 6 songs and later they’d pick the best ones. We’d play game after game until we (and the audience) were exhausted.

They needed around seven games to make up a show. So when it came time to edit, they would see how many they could get out of what we’d done. The longer we did the show, the better we got at it, so by the end they would get as many as 10 episodes out of a three day weekend. Compared to a sitcom where they work all week to make one episode, we were cranking ‘em out. A typical order for a sitcom is 22 in a year. We would make 40 or more, but still work a lot less. What a great gig it was!
