In 2007 the second cd of the Tell Me a Story series came out, to instant success. We recorded seven folk tales from around the world, read by an awesome cast of actors. It was the same production team as the first cd: Amy Friedman wrote the amazing stories, Lori Ada Jaroslow did a remarkable job directing, the stunning artwork is by Jillian Gilliland, and I did the music.

Once again the cd was a pleasure to work on. The stories are rich and lively, and so well read, that scoring them was pure joy. I wrote in a variety of musical styles from around the world, trying to capture the flavor of each story. I got to use all sorts of exotic, interesting instruments such as: tablas (East Indian drums), sruuti box (East Indian drone), Balafon (African xylophone), ganjukoi bells (African hand bells), penny whistle, accordion, melodica, dulcimer, viola di gamba, and pow wow drum.
I worked again with the multi-talented Luke Hannington, (one of my favorite musicians ever), who played beautifully on many of the tracks. I also worked for the first time with an amazing percussionist, Sean Dunnahoe, who came armed with a car load of cool instruments. Both inspired me with their wide knowledge of world music, their stellar musicianship, and their willingness to come in the studio and experiment (one of my favorite ways to record!)
