I wrote this for my friend, Conner, who was about 1.5 when his little brother was born.
Ruthie, age 6

Baby brother you’ve joined our family
They told me you were coming
But I didn’t know you’d be so tiny
And I will be careful when I hold you on my lap
Try to be quiet when you need to take a nap

Baby brother I will take care of you
Our mama and daddy They will take care of you too
And I will play with you when you’re big enough to play
You will learn to crawl and even ride a bike some day

And you’ll get big like me when you grow
But you’ve still got a long way to go
And I’ll always be older you know
