Little Bird
Words and music by Laura Hall © 1997

Ruthie, age 6

I wrote this for my first daughter. When she was hungry she would open and shut her mouth like a baby bird, so she got the nickname Little Bird.

Little bird, little bird
You fly up in the sky
Little bird, little bird
You fly so high

You fly as high as you can go
Above the trees so green
And then you like to swoop down low
Drink from the rushing stream

Little bird, little bird
You fly up in the sky
Little bird, little bird
You fly so high

You shake your tail feathers
And flap your little wings
You stand out on a small branch
Open your beak and sing

You fly until the night comes
Then you go back to your nest
You put your head under your wing
Close your eyes and rest

Little bird, little bird
You fly up in the sky
Little bird, little bird
You fly so high
