The Little Things
Album: A Woman of Faith
Words and music by Laura Hall © 2001
This song came to me all in one piece while I was rocking my baby daughter. It came so fast, I couldn’t write it down quickly enough.
I felt like God was whispering it in my ear.
I finally get the baby to bed,
But the kitchen is still a mess
I haven’t folded the laundry yet,
When I trip on one of her toys,
It makes a squeaky noise
She starts to fuss in her bed,
I bend over and kiss her head
She smells like a dream,
So instead of doing the dishes,
I stand there and watch her sleep
Thank You, Lord, for the little things, the sweet little things
Thank You, Lord, for this life, for this life that I love
This world can be so rough,
I can not protect her enough
All I can give is my undying love,
And the rest is in Your hands,
I’ve learned to understand
No matter what the world may do,
You’re always there to see us through
And so I give these thanks to You,
This is a grateful mother’s prayer,
To a God who’s always there
Thank You, Lord, for the little things, the sweet little things
Thank You, Lord, for this life, for this life that I love
Thank You, Lord, for the little things, the sweet little things
Thank You, Lord, for this life, for this life that I love
